Trees planting

Trees planting
On the territory of Russia large trees planting has a long and interesting history. Traditions of trees planting were introduced, like other European traditions, even in times of Peter the Great. And then the large trees were planted permanently in the representational and decorative purposes in the capitals, St. Petersburg and Moscow, in parks - where they are the most appropriate.
Technological replacing planting of large trees instead of dead one on a large scale was used in Russia only in the Soviet times - in the 30-es. They used a large bulldozers and cranes for this purpose. In the 30-50es term “greening” the street was introduced broadly. They began to create large areas of trees, flower beds and lawns, new profession "greener" (landscape designer and producer) with first professional terms appeared.

Let’s look at the most common rules of trees transplantation and some features of their growth. Maple

Maple- belong to the genus of over 150 sorts of trees and shrubs. Maple dwells in various parts of our planet. Maples quite tenacious, and they can be found in a variety of climatic conditions. In Russia, we know of about 20 sorts of maple.
Due to the fact that maples have a very deep and strong root system, thick crust, beautifully embossed crowns, fancy decorative leaves, painted in a variety of bright colors - they are not only frost-resistant, storm-resistant and hardy, but still very popular .

In spite of a good survival potential of maple,you should pay attention to the following physiological characteristics:

• If the leaves are coloring, it is better not to plant them in the shade because the color may fade and sometimes disappear at all;
• To avoid the growth of root shoots, maple should be planted so that the root collar placed at 10-20 cm above ground;
• Acidity of the soil for planting maple should be no more than 6,0 - 7,5;
• Soil composition: the leaf earth, peat and sand (the optimal ratio - 2:1:1).

Linden

Linden —a beautiful high high-deciduous tree. Linden is especially good in summer when blooms with small fragrant flowers. Linden offers a dense crown which is a good defense from the sun.
Besides the fact that linden is a very beautiful and noble, its flowers are well-known remedy against cold and cough, as well as simply tasty, if you add them to tea.
Dense crown of linden helps it to be a good "ecologist" - it absorbs almost twice as much carbon dioxide than other trees.
In spite of the fact that linden is long-lived tree, you shouldt observe the following rules of planting:

• Root collar - 10 -15 centimeters above the ground;
• Soil should be light, fertile and moisturized;
• Linden sirvive drought or excessive soil salinity badly;
• Can be infected by aphids, so it is necessary to regularly inspect it;
• Linden likes sun or lightly shaded areas;
• Acidity of the soil - less than 6,5 – 7,5.

Rowan tree
Rowan tree is one of the most beloved and popular trees of central Russia. Usually it is a small tree with an oval crown. Perhaps, among large trees it is the most compact and suitable tree for the planting. Rowan tree is especially good in auttumn, when it is covered with clusters of beautiful red or orange berries, and leaves acquire a variety of colors - from pale yellow to bright red. It enjoys us almost the whole autumn and winter by bunches of grapes, attracting birds to your area, which are not only interesting by themselves, but also good for your garden because they eat many wood-destroying pests. It is also beautiful in May and June, covered with clusters of small white flowers.
Rowan tree is frost-resistant, unpretentious, and can reach 4-5 meters in height. Perhaps it can be considered the most suitable tree for planting in all conditions. Rowan tree can decorate any area.

Ель
Common spruce is a tree which achieves 30-35 meters in height at a mature age. A healthy Spruce has symmetrical crown, uniformly tapered, with a sharp tip. Young spruce needles may have light green colour, and adult trees can have dark green colour. Young spruce is subject to sunburn and diseases of the cortex, poorly bear transplantation, till age of 10-15 years they rise slowly, then rapidly gaining growth.
Since the root system of spruce may suffer from lack of oxygen, you need to keep soil friable near the roots and to mulch it by peat or wood chippings.
Landing Spruce requires special knowledge of its physiology. Spruce is very exigent to the soil, and it has the following features:

• it loves shadow or penumbra;
• prefers acid, well-drained, sandy loam and loam soil;
• for landing needs a good soil mixture of peat, sod land and sand (2:1:1);
• can’t stand stagnation of water, salinity and drought;
• root collar should be strongly aligned with the level of the soil surface during transplantation;
• before planting spruce needs to be abundantly watered, and after planting should be fertilized, NPK (100-150 g. per tree), and again abundantly watered - 15-20 liters of water per tree;
• spruce should be planted only to the drainage from the rubble, about 20-25 inches tall;
• acidity of the soil - not more than 4,5 – 5,5

Buck-eye
Buck-eye is a beautiful noble tree with broad, dense crown, which grows to a height of 30 meters.
Amoung large trees Buck-eye is one of the most ornamental plants all year round.
In the flowering period (May-June), Buck-eye enjoys its happy owners by clusters of white and pink flowers, and in autumn (September-October), makes children happy by fruits in the form of small round pellets, which can be baked in the fire or in the oven. They taste like a sweet potato. In addition, that the fruits are not only delicious, they have the exclusive benefit and a rare set of vitamins.
Despite the high height of adult trees, collecting chestnuts is not burdensome process, ripe chestnuts fall to the ground. It is a great pleasure for children to collect chestnuts.
The fruits and leaves of Buck-eye are extremely useful and widely used in folk medicine of different countries.
Landing Buck-eye is not so simple, please keep following rules:

• it is better to plant Buck-eye to drainage from the gravel and coarse sand, about 10-15 inches tall;
• produce (especially after landing) abundant regular watering;
• acidity of the soil - not more than 6,0 - 7,5.

Pine
Pine is a tall tree with long trunk and spreading crown, which gives the penumbra and does sunlight scattered. There are more than 10 different types of trees and shrubs in the family Pinaceae.
Pine is ideal for large areas with plants that do not like direct sunlight, but do not tolerate shade.
Pine is very unpretentious to soil and light-requiring tree. In favourable conditions, it lives to 300 years and grows to 30-40 meters.
In the middle zone there are three types of Pine are most commonly cultivated : pine, Swiss pine and black pine. For small areas, there are also various types of dwarf pine.
Any landing of pine tree requires adhearance to following physiological specifications:

• all kinds of pine, especially Scots pine, are very light-requiring, and limited amount of light can lead to stunted growth and curvature of the trunk;
• pine is not so demanding to the acidity of the soil, but does not like stagnation of water.

Siberian stone pine


Siberian stone pine is one of the oldest large trees. Evergreen, with a strong trunk and fluffy long needles, sometimes reaching 20 centimetres, this plant is particularly decorative, and evokes associations with medieval castles. Adult healthy tree can grow to 40 meters.
It blossoms in June, and mature trees, reached the age of 30 - 40 years bear small, tasty and healthy nuts every two years.
Cedar is unpretentious and comfortable with adapting to different soil and climatic conditions, bad moves landing on the wet areas, stagnation of water.
Cedar is undemanding to warm, can carry and fairly cool weather, but likes moist air and a lot of light.

Larch
Larch is rapidly growing conifer with a gentle and soft bright green needles. This is one of the few trees that shed leaves in winter, baring the gnarled branches and trunk, covered with bumps and irregularities. Larch is really large tree, healthy larch quickly grows to 20 - 25 meters.
In mid-latitudes there are several types of larch, but the most popular is the European larch and Japanese larch. It is a very ornamental and exotic trees, there are also a "weeping" types of larches.
Larch loves calcareous soils and requires a lot of light, and does not like confined spaces. Only taking into account these conditions, landing larch will be successful.

Oak
Oak is famous by its age, this tree is remarkable for longevity: some trees live for 500 years. Though the growth of the tree is small enough (about 30 meters), oaks grow in breadth, and sometimes reach large girths - 4 - 6 meters.
Oak is very enduring, grows well in fertile soils of Central Russia

Birch
Birch grows to 20 meters. Adult tree has plain white trunk with black spots, beautiful long branches with many leaves.
Its long, thin branches may fall almost to the ground. There are over 120 species of birch. In spring birch dissolve the leaves, and from afar it seems that it is wrapped in a thin scarf, and then throws the bright flowers, earrings, color ranging from yellow to bright red.
Birch is very light-requiring, does not like shade and requires sufficient space. Birch from ancient times is considered as a tree of the sun, symbolizing rebirth and spring, and embodies the Russian soul.
Planting birch should be done in the winter, plant a large adult trees that have already formed a closed root system.
